VSOL OLT Setup Guide
The essentials of commissioning a VSOL OLT — from initial console to first authenticated ONT.
A VSOL OLT can be commissioned quickly, but there are a handful of steps that matter for stable long-term operation. This is a practical checklist we run through on every deployment.
Physical preparation
- Rack the OLT with adequate airflow
- Wire dual power supplies (where equipped)
- Ground the chassis properly
- Pre-connect SFPs / SFP+ before boot
Initial configuration
- Set hostname and management IP
- Enable SNMP for LibreNMS / Zabbix
- Add TACACS / local admin users
- Configure syslog to a central host
PON provisioning
- Define line profiles
- Define service profiles
- Set DBA / bandwidth profiles
- Enable ONT auto-discovery
- Register your first ONT and confirm optical Rx/Tx
